D. Mariana Robinson is an accomplished professional artist and brilliant teacher, living and working in the beautiful Wye Valley between England and Wales. Her vibrant work covers a broad range of subject matter and styles, and is constantly evolving. In 1999 she started her Frude images and in 2004 developed an intriguing Cross-Grids which captures the colours and features of places both at home and abroad in a more abstract style.
She is known locally as "the colourful artist" because there is nothing wishy-washy about her boldness of style. Mariana has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember and has a natural talent for colour, shape and design. She is touched by the boldness and changeability of nature around her and spends a great deal of time capturing the play of light, the patterns created by nature and experiments with colour both in her sketchbook and by using her camera. She records what she sees in a Khadi journal - a constant companion whilst travelling. She works mainly in Watercolour, Atelier Interactive Acrylics and Oils.
Although she is self-taught, she has trained to provide excellent teaching of the tricky medium of watercolour. She has quickly acquired a reputation for the quality, information and detail of her training courses. One to one tuition and one-day workshops help students to better understand the medium, from complete beginners to professionals, to discover their inner talent and release their creative abilities.
